Cheers to 45 years! We have officially reached our 45 year mark and we couldn’t be more excited and proud. When Darren’s father, MJ LaPorte, founded the company in 1976, he had big dreams, but never thought we would take off like this! We’ve come a long way from selling furniture and auto upholstery, to now specializing in marine and umbrella upholstery. We’ve definitely found our niche, and look forward to expanding the LaPorte product line even further in years to come.
While MJ was dreaming up big dreams for LaPorte in 1976, a lot of big things were taking place in our country. Take a look at a few interesting pop culture facts from that year.

- Apple Computer was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in Jobs’ parents garage, in Cupertino, California. The first computer, reports say, sold for $666.66.
