LaPorte Products boat covers provide several wonderful benefits, including:
When deciding on zipper placement, there are several factors to consider:
Our production team works diligently to ensure you receive your product as quickly as possible. Contact our shop for information on our current lead time and to check the status of your order.
Because our boat covers are designed to provide maximum coverage and protection for your boat, the hem could fall below the waterline if stored in water. The covers are also not designed with proper openings for dock lines to pass through, prohibiting you from tying off your boat. For these reasons, our covers are designed for trailer, boat lift, dry stack, and/or jet dock storage only. We caution against having any part of the cover left in water for a period of time because this would saturate the cover, deteriorate the material, and void the warranty.
If you store your boat in water, please reference the question above for caution against using our covers. However, we do have a product designed for in-water usage - the Center Console Curtain. The Curtain protects the vitals of your boat including your electronics, the forward seat and leaning post’s upholstery, and any belongings stored there.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.
Our ropes are made from ⅜” Nylon rope.
If your boat is stored on a lift, dry stack, or jet dock, we recommend using 6lb sandbags that attach to the tie-down loops of your cover. If you store your boat on a trailer, we recommend using tie-down straps to attach your cover to your trailer.
We recommend cleaning your cover while on the boat. For the best clean, follow the simple steps:
*If a stubborn stain persists, you can use a diluted bleach/soap mixture for spot cleaning. For mildew, mix ¼ cup dishwashing liquid, 1 cup bleach, and 1 gallon water. For bird droppings, mix ¼ cup dishwashing liquid and 1 gallon water. If the inside of your cover needs cleaning, we suggest installing your cover inside-out on your boat. When doing this, your zipper should be on the opposite side. Once clean, we recommend turning your cover right side out. Follow the same instructions as above.
For your shade, you'll want to wash it either by hand with cold water, or machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Use a little detergent if needed, but no bleach and no fabric softener. Depending on use, you should only need to wash your shade every 6 months to maintain fabric performance. If you are starting to see a diminish in rain repellency, put the shade in the dryer on medium high heat for 10 minutes. The heat from the dryer will bring the water repellency treatment back to the surface of your shade.
You can run up to 30 knots with the aft shade installed. However, do not run with the bow shade installed, as this can limit visibility.
Our covers are not designed to be trailerable. Choosing to tow your boat with the cover on will not only void the warranty but can also cause severe damage to the cover.
Our shades are not waterproof but are water-resistant and made from a special Resilience material that is specially coated to allow water to bead up and roll off. If caught in a rain shower, we recommend lowering the telescoping poles to create a slant, allowing the water to run off.
We suggest using Mate Series products which are rod and cup holder combinations and can be installed on your boat. They work perfectly for holding telescoping poles, fishing poles, and drinks. These are available on the Mate Series website.
Our covers are made from 100% solution-dyed polyester, meaning the color is introduced while the polyester is in its solution state. This allows the color to run throughout the diameter of the fiber rather than merely creating an exterior coating, which prevents the color from bleeding and/or fading. However, if your cover spends significant time in the sun over its lifetime, there is a possibility of slight fading.
We provide Hard Top Strap Kits as an alternative solution for t-tops without the framework. The Hard Top Strap Kit is a long-lasting solution that wraps around your t-top creating an artificial framework for the cover to connect to. The Hard Top Strap Kit mounts underneath the t-top to create connection points.
If you have a bimini top, please call our office at 843-760-6101 to place your order. We will include bimini clips with your Shade Kit. To install your shade, attach the corner straps to the bimini framework and then overlap the shade band to the bimini using the clips provided to secure the shade to the bimini.
Give our office a call! Sometimes a boat pattern may not have made it to our website yet or we don’t currently have the pattern in our system. A member of our team will be able to check our master pattern list for your boat. If we do not have your pattern, we will work with you to schedule a time for you to come by and let us pattern your boat. If this is unattainable, we will add your make and model to our “wish list” of boat patterns we plan to obtain in the future.
Your cover can withstand winds up to approximately 40 MPH and gusts up to 50 MPH. Of course, there are several different factors that can affect this, and it is up to your discretion whether to leave your cover on or not during a storm. However, it is important to be aware that the warranty on your cover is void in tropical storm or greater winds.
