Fishing For Beginners: Conventional

Haven’t quite mastered the art of fishing yet? Catching fish is a blast, but can also be tricky. There are a few key steps you’ll need to follow in order to increase your chances of catching. Whether you’re wanting to catch more fish, or you’ve never caught one at all, we’re here to help and provide a few tips!

License:

Before thinking about tools you’ll need or where you’ll fish, you’ll first need to purchase a fishing license. Depending on where you live, there’s usually a small fee associated with this.

Gear:

A spinning rod and reel combo is going to be your best bet as a beginner. “Combo” just means that the rod and reel are sold together. These are affordable, easy to use, and allow for different lures to be used.

Here are a few we suggest that are all under $100:

Bait:

Shad, nightcrawlers, minnows, and even frogs will do the trick as bait options. You can find these at most bait shops, but you can always catch your own bait, which is what we like to do!

Tackle Box:

A tackle box is key for a successful fishing day. We recommend including hooks, split shot sinkers, and bobbers. For hooks, we recommend a 6-10 size for most every day fishing.

Find Your Fishing Spot:

We recommend asking friends and neighbors in your area. Although some of them may not want to give their secret spots away😉 You can also do a quick Google search to see some popular fishing spots in your area.

That’s it! We hope these few fishing tips have been helpful for you. Leave a comment below, and let us know if you have any fishing tips of your own. Until next time, tight lines!
