By now, you have probably noticed that T-Top Boat Covers has undergone a rebrand over the past year, with the launch of a new website just recently. Now with a fresh new name and look, LaPorte is the new frontier, pioneering in creating quality products to serve boating enthusiasts around the world.

 

Though we may look a bit different now, our priorities are still the same – keeping YOU, our customers, at the center of everything.  

 

We are excited about where we are going, but we know it is also important to reflect on where we have been and where we’ve come from. Read on to learn more about the LaPorte story and how we’ve grown since our inception 40 years ago. You know who we are now, but where did we come from?

 

Our Story

 

LaPorte carries a heritage of family and innovation. CEO Darren LaPorte learned from a young age how to be useful with a needle and thread by working alongside his father and LaPorte’s founder, Air Force retiree M.J. LaPorte, who founded LaPorte’s Upholstery in 1976. At that time, the small company handled mostly automotive and furniture upholstery. As he grew up, Darren found his own passion for the marine industry and fabricating marine upholstery. In 1999, following the retirement of his father, Darren and his wife took over LaPorte’s Upholstery. 

Over the years, Darren has since developed the ingenious brand LaPorte, a company that thrives on great quality, service and products to fulfill boating enthusiasts needs. 

The LaPorte team is built on respect, love and dedication. Darren believes it takes every team member to make him better at what he does and to make LaPorte a truly special place to work. Since its inception, LaPorte has and will always be based on perseverance, innovation and the wellbeing of both LaPorte customers and team members.
