Your Boating Guide For The Holiday Weekend

One of the biggest boating weekends is right around the corner– Independence Day!🇺🇸  There are a few important things to remember that will make your holiday safer and more enjoyable.

Safety is always going to be the most important. Make sure you have all the necessary safety gear on board. Law enforcement is going to be heavy on the water, as they know that this is one of the busiest boating weekends, so ensure you have all of the proper equipment on board (life jackets, registration card, etc). Always follow all state, federal, and local laws.

Expect inexperienced boaters to be out. Abide by all local and state laws and make sure you are staying extra aware of your surroundings in order to keep your boat and others as safe as possible. Make sure you are following things like no wake zones. There is no need to rush through these.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Nothing ruins a boat day like a sunburn setting in at the end of the day. Make sure you and the kiddos are reapplying throughout the day and utilizing things like hats and obviously, a LaPorte Boat Shade Kit😉

If you’re boating on the 4th you’re probably going to watch fireworks from the water, so be sure to do some research on the firework spots in your area.

Pack plenty of food and drinks! If you plan on drinking alcohol, make sure to pack more than enough water in order to stay hydrated while out in the sun. There’s also something about being on the boat that will make you extra hungry, so pack plenty of snacks. Our go to’s are subs, granola bars, chips, and fruit!

We hope you have a safe and fun time celebrating the 4th!
