At LaPorte, we firmly believe this truth: A place is only as good as its people. Whether that be where you work, where you live, where you go to school, where you get coffee every morning, or where you like to adventure, the people you encounter are what truly make it special. In 1976, LaPorte opened its doors with a total of 5 employees. Today, we are proud to say that our family has grown to more than 40. Our company has seen tremendous growth since our inception, and with that growth comes significant change; we’ve moved to a new building, added state-of-the-art machinery, grown our product line, expanded our new building, grown our team, changed our name, and built a new website, just to name a few. However, despite all of this change, one thing has always remained the same: our commitment to not only finding and employing quality individuals, but also serving, encouraging, and training them well so that they can be successful.
The growth and success that LaPorte has seen over the past 44 years would not have been possible without the dedication, passion, and innovation that our team members bring to the table. Though we are a small, family-owned business, we are able to operate like a large manufacturing company; our capacity, production, skill, quality and volume are all consistent with that of a much larger organization. This is in part due to our first-class production process, but mostly due to the fact that our team members show up every single day ready and excited to work.
The Next Generation.
LaPorte has always been rooted in a family heritage of craftsmanship, a love of learning, and an enjoyment for life. Our story began in 1976 with the legend himself, M.J. LaPorte. After 20+ years in the business, MJ LaPorte retired and passed the LaPorte torch on to his son, Darren, who has been fostering growth and innovation here since 1999. When we use the phrase “family heritage,” we really mean it. Not only are all of our team members treated like family, but Darren is not the only LaPorte that can be found here – his wife, brother, both of his daughters, and both of their husbands are all a part of this LaPorte team and play an important role in everything we do.
To this day, Darren’s passion for a relaxed lifestyle and the marine industry inspires him and our LaPorte team to engineer products that are specially designed to help you chill and enjoy your time on the water.
