LaPorte T-Top Boat Covers and Curtains
The Material: 100% Solution Dyed Polyester
Our flagship product, the T-Top Boat Cover, has become one of the most popular boat covers in the industry. The cover, along with our Center Console Curtain and Center Console Boat Cover, is made from 100% solution-dyed polyester as opposed to the standard acrylic material. While the acrylic material is widely used, it is heavy, lacks breathability, and does not retain its color or strength well over time. Solution-dyed polyester, however, is lightweight, breathable, and proven to withstand the test of time. Let us break it down for you:
The Process:
- In order to prevent the fabric from bleeding or fading, the dye is introduced to the polyester when the fabric is in its solution state. This way, the color goes through the full diameter of the fabric rather than just creating an exterior coat, allowing the color of your cover to keep from fading over time.
- Since the dye is introduced in the solution state, there is no exterior coating that covers the natural weaves of the fabric. This provides breathability and also helps prevent mold and mildew growth.
- The solution-dyed polyester is fluorocarbon treated, meaning it is harder to break down by UV exposure. As you can imagine, this is incredibly necessary as many marine products spend extensive time in the sun.

The Material: Resilience
One of our younger, yet best-selling, products, the LaPorte Boat Shade Kit is made of a fabric appropriately named “Resilience” that is exclusive to LaPorte. Resilience is a strong, spandex-like material with 20% stretchability. This elasticity is what allows the shade to run underway, handling speeds up to 30 knots while staying whisper quiet and gives it a taught, sleek look in multiple different positions on your boat. The shade has an outer UV reflective coating able to effectively block 98% of UV rays and reflect up to 75% of UV heat. Not only does this coating keep you and your passengers cool and protected from the sun, it also helps to repel water. When in place, those frequent summer pop-up showers are no longer a problem – just drop one of the poles to slant the shade so the water can roll off and your adventure can continue without pause.
