For part 2 of A Look Into LaPorte, we’re featuring our design team. Our design team are the ones that acquire all of the boat patterns we have in our system which allows us to create our covers. This all starts with the digitization process. Before your order makes its way into production, it must first be digitally designed by one of our expert designers. The software we use allows us to digitize the measurements of your boat to then create a 3D pattern, allowing us to craft that perfect fit.
Once your boat is digitized using our unique equipment, our design team then takes that and creates a 3D pattern on our software. That 3D pattern then helps our seamstresses and tailors know exactly how to create that custom, snug fit.
Our design team consists of 4 fantastic team members: Jacob, Lance, Matt, and Chris. Let’s meet them!
Jacob is our design manager and has been with us for about 6 years now. He loves to garden, forage his own mushrooms, and exploring the outdoors!
Just like Kevin from our last blog, Lance, is a LaPorte vet! He has been with us for 20 years now and helped our owner build a lot of our original designs in LaPorte’s early days. We like to call Lance, “Mr. Do It All” because he’s always up to build and design anything that is asked of him whether it be a boat show display or a table for our umbrellas.
Matt has been with LaPorte for 5 years now. He loves anything technology and is basically our IT guy anytime we have computer trouble!
Chris is our newest design team member and has quickly hit the ground running, and proving himself to be a great asset to the design team! Chris is newly engaged and enjoys being in the outdoors.
Without these guys, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do and manufacture the products you all know and love.
