For this next installment of A Look Into LaPorte, we will be covering our production department. Our production team includes all of the seamstresses and tailors that craft your covers, shades, and curtains. On our production floor, there are three different tables that all contribute to your finished product, each having its own purpose and procedures. Because our production team is so large and there are so many different moving pieces, we are going to break it up into three different parts, starting with table 1: blanks and webbing and binding.
Our blanks/webbing and binding team is split across two tables, with each seamstress either working with blanks, or webbing and binding. Blanks are the raw material that have been cut by our cutting team. One side of this table’s job is to pull the blanks off the rack and put them together. This group of seamstresses attach rubber pull tabs, grommets, and ultimately put the blanks together. They also ensure that your zipper is on the right side. The other side of the table is in charge of your webbing and binding which is close to the finished product. This team installs pieces like your collar straps, zipper, and webbing and binding. This team is the first line of defense in looking at your specific work order and making sure it matches what was cut by the cutting team.
On our blanks team we have Miss Lisa, Lindsay, Jenny, and Margaret. On our webbing and binding we have McKenzie, Jeramie, and Kaoru.
Lindsay is one of our table captains and has been with us for about a year. She has quickly made herself at home. She has never met a stranger and always has a smile on her face! She’s a MA native and has lived here for two year.
Jenny is from the Philippines and has been at LaPorte for about a year, as well. She LOVES karaoke and anything arts and crafts related.
McKenzie is LaPorte’s resident fashionista, always wearing fun outfits. She learned to sew when she came to LaPorte two years ago. Yoga and being outdoors are her passion.
Jeramie started at the same time as Jenny and is also from the Philippines. She enjoys cooking and shopping.
Lisa is one of our production supervisors here at LaPorte and has been with us for 4 years. Lisa loves doing anything with her hubby and dog.
Margaret, a Missouri native, has been with us for 7 years. She loves being on the water and riding 4 wheelers.
Kaoru has been on our team for about 3 years, is from Japan, and coincidentally enough, loves sewing outside of work.
